Brilliant bowling performance against Legends CC Capturing 3 wickets for 19 runs.

Naveed Sehrai and Sher khan destroyed the Legends CC batting line up and Halton Stars showed true champions colors in defeating the Legends CC in a one side game.

Burlington, Ontario. Saturday-30th May 2009

Halton Stars Cricket Club defeated the rival Legends Cricket Club in one of most hyped games played between two teams. The Halton Star’s youngsters and the seniors’ boys proved that cricket is all about the team game rather than one man show. HSCC won the toss and elected to bat. HSCC’s openers Ali Shah and Naveed Sehrai looked good in the beginning but soon HSCC lost wicket of Naveed Sehrai when score was only 9 runs, Legends pacer Waqar Ahmed  did not waste any time in sending Imran Raja back to pavilion on the next delivery. All of the sudden Halton Stars was in trouble as they lost 2 important wickets in two over with only 9 runs on the board and then 4 wickets down for only 30 runs. However, HSCC the strong middle order consists of Imran Kazmi, Bilal Khan and ever reliable Mubasher Waheed showed why HSCC was the champion by battling out the Legends bowlers charge and three played cautiously and with determination to register an acceptable total of 157 all out. Imran Kazmi made 24 runs with the help of 2 fours, Bilal Khan 34 with the help of 3 towering sixes and Mubasher Waheed 28 runs that includes one six.

In return, Legends CC lost first wicket on the first ball of inning from Pacer Naveed Sehrai a great in-swinger that opener Vijay Tsrinivas has no clue how to play and was clean bowled. Niaz Ahmed was the next victim of charged Naveed Sehrai who showed no mercy to Niaz as another in-swinger got Niaz caught by Mubasher and table was set for HSCC to take control of the game. Sher Khan followed Naveed charged and took two wickets in his first over as well. Two over, 4 wickets gone, Legends CC players knew they are in trouble and climbing up the target was not going to be easy against the champion HSCC. Legends middle order put some resistant specially Bilal Khanzada and Salman Nazar who played some good shots but Legends CC batsman could not tackle the brilliant spell from HSCC bowlers and were all out for mere 97 runs.

Naveed Sehrai and Sher Khan took 3 wickets each, while Ghufran Ali chip with 2 wicket and Bilal Khan and Farid Siddiqui chip in with one wicket each and not to forget some great fielding by everyone. This was the total tem effort and excellent leadership of the captains.

Naveed Sheri and Sher Khan shared the player of the week honors.
