Bilal Khan
and Ghufran Ali wins Etobicoke & District
Cricket League MVP awards for the regular season
and the Play-0ffs respectively.
Burlington, Ontario.
December 14, 2008: This year’s Etobicoke &
District Cricket League annual team and
individual achievements awards presentation was
held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 in
Mississauga.
Mr. Praim Persaud,
President of EDCL recognized the Brampton City
Parks and Recreation staff and field maintenance
workers for their the hard work and extra
efforts in providing the excellent service in
maintenance of the ground during the season and
presented them appreciation awards.
He congratulated all
the individual award winners and the champions
teams for their sportsmanship and dedication in
winning the championship.
Halton Stars Cricket
Club would likes to say "thank you" to each and
every member of the EDCL executives for their
commitments, dedication and hard work in running
the league and special thanks to Social
Committee members Gokul Kamat (Chairman), Rumi
Jasavala and Aslam Gangat for their hard work in
organizing the awards function.
When
Halton Stars name was called to come on the
stage to receive the play-offs champions cup,
team captain Saleem Zafar took the whole team to
the stage to lift the cup and recognized players
dedication, hard work and commitment to win the
championship and celebrate their achievement as
a team.
The
award is a fitting tribute for a team that lost
only one game in the whole season and had a 10
games winning streak and then undefeated rest of
the season. That's a pretty good year.
Halton Stars claimed more trophies on the day
than any team in the league with star
all-rounder Bilal Khan wining the Best batsman,
most runs in a season, centuries and Most
Valuable player awards, Spin Magician Syed
Ghufran Ali Winning the Most Wickets in a season
and the Best Bowler awards.
Khalid Gilani was the winner of Best Batsman
(Div 4) and the Century award, while Naveed
Sehrai, Ali Shah and Danish Bashir won the
century awards and Sher Rehman Khan won the Hat
Trick award for the regular season.
This was
not the end as Kashif Nisar and Syed Ghufran Ali
won the most wickets in play-offs award and
Ghufran Ali went on to win two more award, best
Bowler in Play-offs and the Most Valuable Player
(MVP) awards.
Congratulations Halton Stars, a magnificent
cricket team.
